Legendary Map Pack

Last night I was able to download the Legendary map pack for Halo 3 a few days early.
Blackout – the remake of Lockout is great, but all of the walls look the same, and you will spawn not knowing where you are. Also, the map feels smaller because they enlarged a few of the rooms, which cut down path distance between point A and B. Jumps are mostly easier now, but they took out the ledges which were used to jump off of doorways, one of my favorite aspects of Halo 2’s Lockout. All in all, the changes aren’t very big and the map should play very similar to how it did in Halo 2. Should be a great 4v4 Team Slayer map.
Avalanche – the spiritual successor of Sidewinder is going to be a great addition to the BTB maps. With it’s horseshoe shape, it feels extra large, even though a man on foot can make good time between bases compared to a Warthog going the long route at full speed. The flag placement is right at the edge of the 2nd story so grabbing the flag should be a little bit easier than it was in Halo 2’s Containment. This should allow for less stalemates, even though no one is gonna be making it home safely without a vehicle transport.
Ghost Town – By far the most interesting and confusing of all of the maps, it feels like a lot of Halo 2 maps thrown into a COD 4/ GoW style and should result in a great map. It has the limestone look of Sanctuary, but plays much more like Turf in that it’s an Asymmetric square with lots of paths, but with the multiple levels of Ivory Tower so you can never really trust your radar. This should provide a lot of different ways to win and lose a match. There are long sight lines, but lots of close space. A shotgun will be just as deadly as a sniper rifle.
Can’t wait to see all of you guys join me on Tuesday for the new fun.
