Stuicide . Help me find a camera bag.

So, with the recent additions to my camera gear, and the ever increasing urge to carry my camera with me more often, I need myself a new bag.

So far, I’ve kinda liked the Lowepro Fastpack 250.

However, I’ve also been hearing good things about the Crumpler bags as well.

I’m still weighing the pros/cons of a Backpack vs. Shoulder bag. Does anyone have a preference or suggestion?

Stuicide . Inspiring Creativity

The last few weeks have been very hectic and the first thing I start to neglect is my blog. However, I have talked to The Webmaster, and we are going to implement a new design this coming weekend that should fuel some creativity and kick back off the Pic a Day that has been neglected. I’m considering back posting every day that I missed, but that also means I have to go back out and take a LOT of photos in the next few weeks.

I haven’t been feeling very creative as of late, a lot of things on my mind and kept me from exploring some creative ideas that I’ve had in my head. I need to learn to get ACTIVE and exercise my creativity on a daily basis.

I’ve gotten a new camera lens that I need to post about, it’s going to be a great portrait lens and was super cheap! I enjoy the crisp pictures I’ve gotten out of it so far. I’m looking for a Camera backpack so when I go to Chicago in a few months I’ll be able to take my gear with me on the plane and around the city without too much of a hassle. Anyone have any suggestions?

See ya soon constant readers. I’ll be back with some creative photos soon.

Stuicide . Jersey Girl

Sure I only caught the last hour of it, but it’s not so bad. I wonder why it did so bad? I enjoyed it, Liv Tyler rocks, George Carlin has a good role, Ben Affleck is a decent lead, the little girl steals the spotlight, I saw a Matt Damon and Jason Lee cameo, there was a smidgen of Jason Biggs and the best part is that Jennifer Lopez dies at the beginning of the movie.

P.S. The Will Smith cameo was superb and was a great scene for both characters, i would have loved for there to be a follow up scene to see if Will chose to use Arthur as his representation. Or if Will had asked Ben to be his publicist personally.

Stuicide . Apologies for the lack of updates.

My apologies for the lack of updates the last week or so. Gotten extremely busy at work and also last weekend the blog was down due to a buddy of mine (who graciously hosts my blog) got a lot of traffic from Bungie.net and his account was suspended due to several thousand hits over the course of a few hours.

We’re hosted at a different spot now, and the pipe is a bit bigger.

Pic a Day will be back soon, I recently went out and grabbed a lot of decent photos this week, I will be shooting some more this weekend, experimenting with long exposures and night photography, we’ll see what I come up with after the weekend and I’ll update the backlogs so not a day is missed.

Stuicide . Inspiration

I’ve been having a tough time getting inspired to take pictures this last week. Due to my regular office hour schedule, I’m only able to go out a few hours a day to even have a chance at catching good light. Plus, where I live is a very suburban area, that doesn’t really spark a lot of inspiration.

I’ve been wanting to go downtown and take some urban pictures of the area, but it’s a long drive and I’d probably need to go on a weekend to have enough time to do anything fun. I guess I’ve been looking for some inspiration to get some motivation.

I probably just need to look at a bunch of other pictures and try to come up with some cool ideas that I can steal from other photographers.

Stuicide . Homework Assignment - Morning Rituals

This week’s homework assignment is here!

After having a lot of fun with the last one, I did a lot of brainstorming for something that would be fun and anyone could participate in. Some really great ideas were mentioned by some friends, but they were a bit more advanced so, some Point and Shoot photographers may not have been able to join in easily. We’ll get to those ideas in due time, but for this week. I wanted something Stu-ish, something snazzy, something that would spark creativity, while also allowing freedom.

This week’s assignment is titled “Morning Rituals”. Take a picture of something that represents the morning rituals that people do. Anything that makes you think early in the day. Be creative with your ideas, there are a lot of things people do in the morning before they go to work, or things people don’t do because it’s the weekend and they may or may not be hungover.

This should allow everyone with some freedom to be creative and it will get us all completely different results.

Homework is due in 1 week. June 25th. To submit your images please e-mail the Photo URL (medium size if you’re using Flickr, roughly 500 pixels) for your photo. If you have a Flickr account, send me the link so I can make sure people find a way to your photography if they like your picture. My e-mail is Mcardwll (at) gmail (dot) com.

Stuicide . Homework Result - TTL Nodak

This is a great set of photos that when I first saw them made me laugh. Taken by TTL’s own Nodak, who has been a great help and influence for my photography in the last few months. Nodak is a Senior Photography for a newspaper and I greatly appreciate him doing some “work” on his week off.

Check out the rest of the homework results here.

TTL Nodak’s “Ode to Capown”

That poor poor bear. See all of the hilarious outtakes and behind the scenes special here. Check out Nodak’s Flickr photostream here.

Stuicide . Homework Results - Crim

Another set of amazing photography by a newcomer to the TTL Gunslingers, Crim.

His subject of choice was a fork and he used a lot of different lighting and colors to get completely different pictures. They are all so bright and amazing, I could stare at them for hours.

Stuicide . Homework Results - Al Capown

Here is Al Capown’s entry for the homework assignment. He decided to document a bottle of vodka of what I am presuming, over the course of one Friday night. I’m suprised he kept it in focus for the last few pictures.
